This is a free Members-Only excursion. This field trip is to Montezuma Castle National Monument, led by Matt Guebard, National Park Service Archaeologist. Matt will give a presentation in the lecture area highlighting recent research at the Monument. This includes the discovery of colored wall decorations indicating rooms with special community functions, as well as the use of cutting edge scientific techniques to evaluate the age of rooms at the Castle as well as at the nearby Castle A site. His talk will be followed by a walking tour of the Castle grounds.
The NPS suggests the wearing of masks at the Monument. They have a pretty good system for keeping folks socially distanced during the tour. They can take up to 20 people.
