This course is an expansion of the online Rock Art course that is offered by VVAC.
At the conclusion of the course, attendees are expected to:
- Understand the ethnographic basis of rock art and various styles throughout the Southwest
- Understand how the rock art images were created
- Understand who made the rock art
- Understand some of the possible interpretations of rock art
Class fee includes a copy of Understanding the Rock Art of Sedona and the Verde Valley that will be covered in the class.
At a mutually agreeable date after the class, there will be a guided visit to the V bar V Heritage Site to discuss some of the 1,032 petroglyph images, In addition, an optional visit to the Palatki Heritage Site will be offered to view the many pictographs, including the seldom visited Roasting Pit area.
